Romney suspends presidential campaign - CNN.com
CNN) -- Mitt Romney suspended his bid for the Republican presidential nomination Thursday, saying if he continued it would "forestall the launch of a national campaign and be making it easier for Senator Clinton or Obama to win."
"In this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror. This is not an easy decision. I hate to lose," the former Massachusetts governor said.
"If this were only about me, I'd go on. But it's never been only about me. I entered this race because I love America, and because I love America, in this time of war I feel I have to now stand aside for our party and for our country."
It's a sad day in America when such a great American gives up his bid for the Whitehouse. (I just threw up a little in mouth just from typing that load of crap) Actually I'm giggling like a school girl. This is almost as good as Rotten Rudy giving up. I'm sure his "I love America" speech will help when McCain looks for a running mate, someone that will offset how much the Republicans hate McCain. I don't understand how he keeps winning if he is so awful, of course that might explain George W. I guess that is how the minds of the American sheep work, "let's see who is the worst possible person to be President and let's vote for them".

I am borrowing this from Left In Aboite
This has given me a whole new outlook on life. Becoming a God over my own world has a certain appeal. I don't think it will convince me to vote for Mittens though.
Found this posted on Doonesbury.com today:
SAY WHAT?
"Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"
-- Mike Huckabee, to the New York Times Magazine. Huckabee later apologized to Romney.
I guess he didn't really need to apologize.

Romney Seeks to Defuse Concerns Over Mormon Faith - New York Times
2 comments Posted by Parson at 8:18 PMRomney Seeks to Defuse Concerns Over Mormon Faith - New York Times: "“Then Sam Adams rose, and said he would hear a prayer from anyone of piety and good character, as long as they were a patriot,” Mr. Romney said. “And so together they prayed, and, together, they fought, and together, by the grace of God, they founded this great nation.”"
Sorry, Flip-Flopping Romney, your no Sam Adams.
“I believe in my Mormon faith and endeavor to live by it,” he said.
And showing the fine line he was treading, he promised not to be beholden to church authorities, and devoted the majority of his address to calling for a robust role for religion in public life, declaring there was a common moral heritage across religious lines in the country that he would champion.
He's not a very good Mormon if he isn't going to be "beholden" to church authorities. Isn't that what Mormon's are all about?
I'm sure Mormons aren't like ones on that HBO "Big Love" show. Mormons still keep everything secret and seem to most people to be a cult. I don't understand how someone who is such a good Mormon can flip-flop so much? Isn't the whole Christian faith supposed to be based on the teaching of Christ? I don't remember Christ flip-flopping on issues.
Remember September 11, 1857? When Brigham Young sent his chosen people out to slaughter innocent men and women? oh wait, I guess that would make Flip -Flopper the perfect republican candidate.

More on the favorite Senator of the week.
Officer accuses Craig of lying - Politics - MSNBC.com
"WASHINGTON - The officer who arrested Sen. Larry Craig in a police undercover operation at an airport men’s room accused the senator of lying to him during an interrogation afterward, according to an audiotape of the arrest. On the tape, released Thursday by the Minneapolis Airport Police, the Idaho Republican senator, in turn, accuses the officer of soliciting him for sex. “I’m not gay. I don’t do these kinds of things,” Craig told Sgt. Dave Karsnia minutes after the two men met in a men’s room at the airport on June 11."
Another video here Huffington Post MSNBC video
I wonder, why doesn't this guy just resign, he's old enough and probably got plenty of money to retire and live comfortably. Resigning now and live out the rest of your days in obscurity. His own party wants him to resign. Wouldn't it be best to resign? In a week Leno, Letterman, and everyone else will have forgot you. Your boy Mitt has gone through a lot of trouble to erase any trace of you from his website. Maybe you should take the hint.

GOP Senator Pleaded Guilty After Restroom Arrest
Idaho's Craig Denies 'Inappropriate Conduct,' Says He Regrets Entering Plea
By Paul Kane and Shailagh Murray

Sen. Larry E. Craig pleaded guilty earlier this month to misdemeanor disorderly-conduct charges stemming from his June arrest by an undercover police officer in a men's restroom at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, a court spokeswoman and the senator's office said yesterday.
"At the time of this incident, I complained to the police that they were misconstruing my actions. I was not involved in any inappropriate conduct," Craig said. "I should have had the advice of counsel in resolving this matter. In hindsight, I should not have pled guilty. I was trying to handle this matter myself quickly and expeditiously."
That is the sillyest thing I've read lately (that didn't come out of Bush's mouth). Why would you plead guilty if you were innocent? It's not like he couldn't afford a lawyer. I might not be a legal genius (but I play one on the internets) but even if you planned to plead guilty wouldn't you get a lawyer? No matter what, this was still going to be in the news. I think Ol' Senator Denies got caught with his pants down and it typical GOP manner he's trying to back peddle, flip-flop, and downplay his perversion because he has to try to hold his marriage together to maintain that "family value" image. If he is working on the Romney campaign, he has experience flip-flopping and back peddling.
In 2006, a gay activist said he had spoken with men who had sexual encounters with Craig, including in the restrooms at Union Station. Craig's office told the Spokesman-Review of Spokane, Wash., that the allegations were "completely ridiculous."
Seems the Senator that is so against gay marriage and gays in the military has some skeletons in his closet. I wonder if he ever got any text messages from Foley? of course he is probably too old for Foley.
More on the Senator Craig news, and some opinion that I like.

"I think the presidency ought to be held at a higher level than having to answer questions from a snowman."
-- Mitt Romney, declining to participate in the next CNN/YouTube debate
Once again proving that the Republicans have no sense of humor or imagination.
I watched the Democrats debate on CNN. I thought they YouTube videos were pretty cool for the most part. Some were kind of dumb, but the snowman video was kind of cute. We could have done without the hillbilly holding his "baby" (some machine gun he needs for personal protection). I kind of liked Obama's answers for most of the questions. A few things Hillary said kind of scared me. I wish I would have wrote this earlier so I could give specific examples. I would like to see Republicans answer questions from ordinary people, but of course they won't do it because they know it will scare us normal people further away from the Republican party come election time.

Oh how I howled with laughter when I read this, What we can learn from Romney's favorite book. - By John Dickerson - Slate Magazine
To save you some trouble, apperently Mitt Romney's favorite novel is, "Battlefield Earth" by L. Ron Hubbard. (The father of scientology). If you haven't seen it, Battlefield Earth is probably the worst movie ever made (well it and Waterworld might be a tie). From what I hear the book "Battlefield Earth" isn't much better then the movie. It's kind of scary someone wanting to lead the free world has such bad taste. I guess it can't be worse then Bush, his favoite book The Stranger. It's about a Arab killer that has no remorse,(hmm sound familar).
I hope Battlefield Earth isn't going to give Romney any ideas like it did Bush.
I figure it won't be long before Romney has to flip flop and come up with something better.
I watch Romney on Jay Leno last night, he talked about how the people want a man of god running the country. I think what made me sick was the audiance seemed to just eat it up, they were cheering like mad, maybe they just liked the idea of being able to have multiple wives?

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! make it stop, my eyes, my eyes!!!!
Evangelicals for Mitt
I had a nightmare last night, Mitt Romney was president and Matt Kelty was mayor of smoke free Ft. Wayne.
Is there no stopping the pain?
I was thinking of getting a bunch of these yard signs and having a bon fire. Hot dogs and marshmellows for everyone, but please no smoking!

Were are those swift boat vets now?
"People signing up for, registering and receiving, if you will, a number, a registration number, then working here for six years and paying taxes, not taking benefits...then at the end of that period, registering to become a citizen or applying to become a citizen and paying a fee...I think those are reasonable proposals."
-- Mitt Romney, 2005
"My view is there should be no advantage for those that are here illegally in pursuing a course of permanent residency."

It's nice to see this time around it's a Republican flip floping like a fish out of water.
"[My support of the Brady Bill and the assault weapons ban are] not going to make me the hero of the NRA....I don't line up with the NRA."
-- Mitt Romney, 1994
"I have a gun of my own. I go hunting myself. I'm a member of the NRA and believe firmly in the right to bear arms."
-- Mitt Romney, 2007
Maybe it's not really a flip flop, but If a democrate would have said that, then you know Fox news would be rallying the swift boats.

If a democrat did this, he would be called a "flip flopper" or something.
"I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country."
-- Mitt Romney, 1994
"I saw where the harsh logic of abortion can lead -- to the view of innocent new life as nothing more than research material or a commodity to be exploited."
-- Mitt Romney, 2005
I guess Republicans just call it "business as usual"? I guess I could give him the benefit of the doubt were he says "I saw where", maybe a light bulb when off or something, but giving the benefit of the doubt isn't a much fun as calling someone a flip flopper for changing their mind.
This is from the Mitt Romney web site
"a social conservative; someone whose personal integrity and moral values are unquestioned;"
I think some moral values are in question and they changed between 1994 and 2005.
There is tons more crap on his web site, I hope to make it my new hobby to pick it apart and blog about what I find. It looks like we have another up and coming neocon.
